Russ, presenting the item, said the old lift station built in the 1960s cannot reliably be repaired because parts are no longer available; the new station replaces two older stations and was originally estimated at $2,000,000. “We received one quote for the project and that's Outdoor Enterprises ... they submitted a bid for $1,439,485,” Russ told council and recommended a not-to-exceed award of $1,584,000 to cover contingencies.
Staff said the project would take roughly 150 calendar days and that funds are budgeted in the Sanitary Sewer Fund. Council members asked why only one bid was received and whether the new station was sized for future growth; staff said regional contractor availability likely limited bids and that the new station was designed larger to accommodate anticipated development along the corridor.
The item will be placed on the Monday meeting agenda for formal award. No formal contract award vote occurred during the work session.
