A second staff summary covered a cybersecurity bill that would require entities to notify a state hotline within two hours of certain cyber incidents; staff noted the state provides funded cybersecurity assistance and suggested the district pursue a state assessment and penetration testing. Another bill discussed would modify allowable uses of the state’s water infrastructure restricted account in light of Great Salt Lake funding priorities; Senate Bill 46 was described as imposing landscaping requirements and aiming to reduce outdoor water use by roughly 25% for state agencies.
Board members asked follow-up questions about whether the measures would change local permitting or the district’s plan-review process; staff said the changes would mainly affect developers and state entities, and recommended coordination with the district’s permit writer as needed.
