Barnwell County Council voted on June 24 to move forward with construction drawings for a planned amphitheater and adjoining park, after the project manager agreed to make requested changes and address safety and sight-line concerns. Administrator Roger Riley introduced Collin Filo of Ardurra, who described the presentation materials as the project's "Construction Drawings."
Mr. Filo said the Master Plan is complete and that the submitted drawings contain the details needed to reach permitting and begin construction. He told council the park design includes "150 parking spaces" and other site improvements. Council members asked for adjustments — notably a clearer sight-line from the amphitheater to the lake — and Mr. Filo agreed to revise the drawings for that purpose.
A motion by Councilman Alexander, seconded by Councilman Kenner, to make the noted changes and proceed with the project carried on a voice vote. Council also directed staff to provide the hardcopy plans and an electronic presentation to interested members and to move ahead with the permitting process once the edits are made.
