The City of Denison Main Street advisory board voted to submit applications for two downtown-support grants, including the Annis Reed award and a Community Foundation (TCF) grant targeted to Music on Main and volunteer programming. "You can submit, I think, up to $10,000 for the Annis Reed," staff said, adding that Annis Reed awards typically run "2 or 3000."
Board members discussed potential ask amounts and the Community Foundation’s opaque award process, which staff described as either awarding the full amount or a partial grant. After a motion to approve the applications and a second, the board approved moving forward with the grant submissions. The motion was made during the board portion of the meeting and recorded as approved by voice vote.
Staff said the Annis Reed funds would likely be modest but helpful to the volunteer program, while the Community Foundation request could be larger; no final application amounts were recorded in the meeting packet. The board did not set final award-request figures at the meeting and directed staff to prepare applications for submission.
