Hutto EDC: June sales-tax collections down 5.5%; staff investigating top‑10 taxpayer shortfall

Assistant Finance Director Christina Bishop presented the June 2026 financial report, which covers nine months of fiscal activity. “In June, you saw a 5.5% decrease over prior June in your sales tax collections,” Bishop told the board, and she added that July‑to‑date collections are down about 1.1% compared with last July.
Bishop said staff has identified that one of the municipality’s top 10 sales taxpayers has not remitted sales tax for roughly three to four months; staff has reached out to the business and will follow up directly, including a planned in‑person visit. Bishop also noted expenditure items such as a downtown property purchase and CIP expenditures and said the board is projecting an ending fund balance of approximately $12,500,000 for the fiscal year.
After questions from board members about confidentiality and disclosure limitations on taxpayer information, the board moved to approve the financial report as presented; the motion passed 5–0.
