Commissioners spent time discussing whether and how to participate in the July 4 parade, including use of a 40-foot trailer, decorations and a small budget for supplies.
Members debated the logistics of decorating a trailer, whether to recruit a DJ and how to secure in-kind materials. "We can set a budget for this because we ran out of the candy we bought last year," one commissioner said. Another participant provided a rough total for last year's event: "It was roughly about, like, $5,600 altogether," S8 said.
The group agreed to pursue decorations (skirting, bunting, balloons) and to pass a sign-up sheet for volunteers. Staff said candy and the banner were already covered. No formal budget vote was taken; procurement will be handled by staff and volunteer leads ahead of the parade.
