The Huber Heights Diversity Commission heard a status update on the city's Juneteenth celebration and was told the event is ready to go.
A staff member overseeing event logistics (speaker S6) said the celebration has 26 retail vendors, food trucks, entertainment and inflatables on site, and that volunteers and commissioners will be assigned setup duties in advance. "Everybody got their shirts," S6 said, adding that a final checklist with staffer Molly will be completed before the event.
Commissioners discussed promotional materials. S6 said a short, edited video about Juneteenth exists and the commission plans to use a QR code on postcards to link attendees to the clip and additional information. Commissioner Michelle Trotter (speaker S5) described a plan to consolidate vendor information into a single online sheet and create a short link or QR code for printing and distribution.
Organizers asked commissioners to personally invite residents and to circulate assignments via the event text thread. No formal votes were taken; staff indicated they will circulate final setup times and maps to commissioners ahead of the event.
