Proposal would separate intake and adoption operations at Barnwell shelter; Animal Advocates to cover medical costs

Ms. Vickie Scott, President of Animal Advocates, explained the intake center is a starting point for animals coming into the system and that Animal Advocates will cover medical expenses for animals during intake. The county informed Council that intake and adoption functions will be kept separate for 10 years under terms referenced in the draft Master Agreement. Ms. Scott also said the county would fund two full-time and three part-time positions at the intake center, while Animal Advocates’ grant funding could support additional county positions.
