The Vernon County Board on Nov. 14 approved Resolution 2023-71 to allocate ARPA funds to capital improvement projects and later approved Resolution 2023-72 to use ARPA funds to offset part of the 2024 payable-2023 levy. Finance Committee materials presented a prioritized list of projects and a funded total of $1,200,000 from a $1.5 million set-aside.
The approved ARPA-funded projects in the Finance Committee summary include a telephony system ($195,000), bridge replacement on County P ($190,500), digital orthoimagery ($143,340), a community development grant program ($150,000), and sheriff's office body scanner ($188,500), among others. The ARPA resolution authorizes transfers to occur Jan. 1, 2024. The board also approved a separate motion under Resolution 2023-72 recommending use of $500,000 of ARPA to offset the 2024 levy impact.
