Janice Clark was elected chair of the Huber Heights Citizen Complaint Review Board at the board’s first organizational meeting.
Aaron Sorrell, the assistant city manager and staff liaison, called for nominations and Clark was nominated and seconded; the board confirmed her by voice vote. A vice chair was also nominated and approved (referred to in the meeting as “Miss Pho”).
The vote was taken by voice with members responding “aye.” Following the election, several members stood and recited the oath of office to support the U.S. and Ohio constitutions and the city charter.
The selections were part of a brief organizational agenda that also included member introductions and an outline of the board’s role. Sorrell told the board, “You’re the, an appeals board in a sense,” explaining that the CCRB will review appeals from internal police investigatory findings and advise city leaders on next steps.
The board did not take roll-call-style recorded votes for the officer elections; the confirmations were made by general assent during the meeting. Staff said the board will finalize meeting rules and procedures in the coming weeks and will return with more detailed materials for the new chair and vice chair to review.
