Petition to expand Billings County commission to five validated; question set for primary ballot; election inspectors appointed

Residents submitted a petition under North Dakota Century Code 11‑12 to increase the Billings County Commission from three to five members. Auditor Marcia Kessel reported 175 signatures submitted and 152 verified as complete and valid; the board and the state's attorney reviewed the petitions. The ballot question will read: "Shall Billings County increase the number of its county commissioners to five?"
Separately, Kessel presented three nominees to serve as election inspectors for the June 9 primary election. The commission appointed Karen Putnam, Mary Armbrust and Teresa Roberts to the Fairfield, Medora and Absentee Election Boards.
