Traill County Sheriff Steve Hunt told commissioners on March 17 that his office has two new hires, bringing staffing to full levels, and that $21,000 in donations have been received to support the Police Dog Program. Hunt also requested the commission designate Ben Gates, Assistant DES, as the county's primary representative to the Northeast Coordinated Regional Interoperability Board (Jerry Tollefson as alternate); the commission approved that personnel change.
Hunt asked that Traill County apply for a Court Facilities Grant to fund purchase of new metal detectors and handheld units; he said any required matching funds would come from the Capital Improvements Fund and that he will return with cost estimates before expenditures are approved.
