County asks MWEC to acknowledge right-of-way records as CR4 reconstruction plans proceed

Representatives from Mountrail Williams Electric Cooperative (MWEC) and HDR Engineering met with the board to discuss utility relocation options tied to the CR4 reconstruction project. State’s Attorney Wade Enget told MWEC the county has a recorded 75-foot right-of-way (right-of-way plat recorded March 9, 1987) and asked MWEC to acknowledge the recorded right-of-way and explain why utility poles were placed within that right-of-way without prior county permission.
The board also asked MWEC to clarify whether the cooperative would share any additional costs beyond routine utility relocation and, if so, what portion of added costs MWEC would contribute if road alignment changes were made to avoid relocating poles. Commissioners said they would continue the discussion at upcoming meetings while county staff and MWEC work to reconcile right-of-way records and project design options.
