Administrative coordinator reports on misappropriation probe, RFPs and planning priorities

Administrative Coordinator Cassandra Hanan delivered a multi-topic operational update that included an active joint investigation with the Sheriff, the district attorney and the Viroqua Police Chief into misappropriated funds by a former employee; Hanan said internal procedures have been strengthened and the county "will pursue every legal avenue to recover these misappropriated funds." She also reported that budget meetings with department heads are underway and the Finance Committee has finalized the ARPA request process.

Hanan said the RFP for a new human-resources system is out and due back by the end of the month, and a larger financial-system RFP is nearly ready to be issued. She noted staff are working on a comprehensive plan to file with the state, reviewing the vehicle and equipment schedule for insurance, exploring garbage-hauling options for county buildings after vendor concerns, soliciting volunteers for a website refresh and .gov migration, and developing an Opioid Funding Grant Program. Several policy and procurement updates will be brought to the General Government committee for review.
