County renames and reclassifies highway positions to eliminate seasonal bump pay

Vernon County adopted Resolution 2023-46 to rename and reclassify a set of highway department job titles (for example, changing "Highway Operator" to "Section Lead" and creating "Heavy Equipment Operator/Paint Crew") with the stated goal of eliminating seasonal "bump up" pay arrangements. The board adopted the measure by voice vote and directed Human Resources to update job descriptions accordingly.
