Summary
Vernon County approved extending the closing date for the sale of the former highway shop to March 1, 2024, and added a provision requiring Northpointe to pay $50,000 to the county if it fails to close by that date and the delay is not the county’s fault.

The Vernon County Board adopted an amendment to Resolution 2023-52 extending the closing date for Northpointe Holdings II, LLC's purchase of the former highway shop (602 N. Main St., Viroqua) to March 1, 2024. The Board added language that, if Northpointe fails to close by that date and the delay is not caused by Vernon County, Northpointe shall pay $50,000 to the County.
The amendment arose after discussion about prior extensions: the resolution text records at least three prior deadline extensions requested by Northpointe. The resolution also modifies contingency language related to environmental and geotechnical reports, and the Board adopted the resolution as amended by voice vote.
