Council approves budget amendment and zoning/ADU regulation amendments on first reading
Summary
Council approved an FY2025–26 budget amendment and amendments to zoning rules related to nonconforming structures and accessory dwelling units (ADUs), each passing by unanimous roll-call votes on first reading.
The council approved ordinance 2025-9 (an amendment to the FY2025–26 budget) and ordinance 2025-10 (amendments to zoning and land-development regulations concerning nonconforming structures and registered ADUs) on first reading after staff presentations and brief council review.
Both measures passed by unanimous roll-call votes. Staff said the budget amendment was ready for council consideration and that a county/state planning staff member (Kristen) attended to answer questions on the zoning amendments. Council recorded 'Aye' votes from all members for both items, and the mayor said staff will continue work on town-hall exterior improvements and other capital priorities.
The zoning amendment vote followed a Q&A with planning staff; council had no additional objections during the meeting and recorded unanimous support. The measures will return for second-reading procedures as required by ordinance process.
