Commissioners say county cannot fully restrict gaming in convenience stores; plan to use ACCG for state action

Staff explained that some elements (beer, wine and tobacco sales or certain gaming machines) are regulated by state law and that local authority is limited.
Several commissioners recommended working through the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) and the National Association of Counties (NACO) to pursue state-level changes. "Those policy council meetings with ACCG is where this board should be actively participating," one commissioner said, and urged the board to seek legislative remedies for concerns the county cannot address locally.
