Scott Lyons (community development) presented the Roberts zoning map amendment, describing a roughly 10-acre parcel at 9310 North 6000 West that was previously unzoned and for which the landowner requested an R R 2 designation. Lyons explained unzoned land allows broader uses by default but that the RR2 zone enforces a two-acre minimum density and prohibits general commercial or industrial uses.
Lyons said the planning commission recommended approval despite some reservations about the specific zone. A motion to approve ordinance 647 was made, seconded and passed; commissioners found the change preferable to leaving the parcel unzoned and noted required outreach to nearby Elwood had been performed and Elwood declined annexation.
