County awards strategic-planning contract to Westerie Solutions for $24,681 after single bid

The Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners awarded a strategic-planning contract to Westerie Solutions for $24,681 and authorized Chair Fisher to sign the agreement. Administrator David Schaeffer said this was the only bid received and noted strategic planning meetings scheduled at the Kaliseum on Feb. 24, March 17 and April 21 at 5:00 PM.
Commissioners discussed the award during the County Affairs item and approved the contract on a 6–0 roll call with one absence. Later in the meeting the clerk and at least one audience member raised questions about the scope and cost of strategic planning work during public comment.
