Commissioners approve limited BNSF road use for winter maintenance, contingent on local approvals

Road & Bridge Engineer Jana Hennessy presented a BNSF request to allow certain railroad maintenance and snow/ice removal equipment to travel on designated county and township roads. Hennessy said several local jurisdictions had already provided approval; approvals were outstanding for White Earth City and White Earth Township.
Milo Bickford, representing BNSF, said the routing would be limited to maintenance needs around rail crossings. The board voted to approve use limited to specific routes and subject to LoadPass permits and White Earth jurisdiction approvals. The approval was recorded as a motion and carried with Commissioners Rice, Olson, Hollekim and Ruland voting yes.
