Residents raise transparency and quality-of-life concerns over proposed data centers and local development

Jason Wilson (speaker 22), a Taylor County precinct chair, said he and others have been "looking into what these data centers represent" and urged "transparency and honesty" about approvals and long-term resource impacts. Wilson said the public needs more notice and involvement as large facilities are proposed.
Alvaro Dos Santos (speaker 23), who said he lives about a half-mile from a data-center site, described nightly noise, traffic and property damage. "We live in a hellhole," Dos Santos said, adding he spent $10,000 on soundproof windows to sleep and reported that trucks repeatedly damage the access to his gate. He asked the council to "just listen to the pain" his neighborhood is experiencing.
Council members did not take immediate action during public comment but the speakers asked staff for clearer public information and follow-up; staff and council noted they would receive additional material or subsequent hearings when items reach the zoning or permitting stage.
