Pittsford commissioners question Omya energy figures and BTU calculations in draft Energy Plan

Rick Conway noted the plan’s BTU calculations did not list the number of pellets, propane or natural gas quantities, and urged the author to explain whether Omya’s thermal use (natural gas for drying) and large electricity demand (electric static precipitators) were included and how they were apportioned in aggregate figures.
Mark Pape said the universal target numbers in the draft appeared unusually high — he suggested the draft implied the Town would reduce consumption by more than 100% — and called for clearer, realistic targets. Commissioners asked for the data sources and assumptions behind the BTU and electrical calculations before the Commission proceeds further with adoption.
