Commission seeks maps showing whether proposed solar projects counted in Pittsford targets are built or only permitted

During its Sept. 26 session the Pittsford Planning Commission flagged the draft Enhanced Energy Plan’s treatment of solar siting and targets, saying maps are essential to understand whether counted projects are physically built or only permitted. Commissioners noted that the RRPC draft recommends choosing existing solar locations as preferred sites but that the Planning Commission needs a chart the Select Board received to verify which projects are in which status.
Rick Conway and other members said that including permitted-but-unbuilt projects in the Town’s goals could misrepresent progress; Alicia Malay had indicated she would forward the Select Board’s response from RRPC regarding solar. The commission agreed mapping and a clear distinction between constructed and proposed installations must be provided before the plan is finalized, and they will seek those materials and discuss them with the plan author at a follow-up meeting.
