Pittsford Planning Commission to supply marked-up Brandon Energy Plan draft for local Enhanced Energy Plan

The Pittsford Planning Commission on Aug. 22 agreed to prepare a marked-up version of the Brandon Enhanced Energy Plan and to send the accompanying meeting minutes to Jeremy Gildrien of the RRPC for development of a Pittsford-specific Enhanced Energy Plan. Mr. Gildrien is scheduled to attend the commission's next meeting to review the draft.
Members reviewed technical elements of the Brandon plan, including electric-sector pathways and which maps should be included. Commissioners asked whether solar-potential and rooftop-solar mapping would cover commercial and municipal projects separately and whether rural areas and Pittsford village should be mapped independently. The group agreed geothermal potential would be included but that a wind-energy map would not.
"The Planning Commission should do what they think is best for Pittsford," said Mark Winslow during discussion of localizing the draft plan. Commissioners asked staff to insert "Known Possible Constraints" and to review preferred locations based on local knowledge rather than relying solely on state-level maps. They also suggested adding an appendix or map showing solar projects already installed in town and noting distribution-substation capacity concerns raised by utility providers.
