Board OKs purchase of 25 iPads as district prepares May millage renewal push

At its Oct. 1 meeting the Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education approved the purchase of 25 Apple iPads and protective cases for the elementary school at a total cost of $25,373.75, funded from the district's Technology Enhancement Millage.
The superintendent told the board the district will ask Monroe County voters in May to continue the longstanding Technology Millage that supports instructional technology and equipment. The board carried the iPad purchase by a 4-0 vote.
The minutes also show approvals for staff travel related to professional development (Abby Kohler to the Michigan World Language Conference Oct. 23–24; Courtney Hammond to the MSBO Facilities and Operations Conference Oct. 5–7) and other routine consent items. The technology purchase was presented as an action item and supported by a motion recorded in the minutes.
