Willard council hears public-works, police and fire updates and prepares for budget season

Public Works briefed the council on ongoing winter preparations, maintenance schedules and facility improvements. Councilors were told staff were proceeding with equipment purchases and schedules to prepare for the winter season.
Chief Theron Fielding reported that recently awarded grant money was beginning to arrive and department personnel were assembling newly acquired police gear. The Fire Department reported a water pump replacement and discussed potential offers on surplus equipment; department representatives also expressed interest in formalizing agreements with South Willard fire services and updating compensation terms. Mayor Mote requested a copy of the Fire Contract with the County so the council could review existing arrangements.
City Manager Jeremy Kimpton described upcoming budget preparations: "The preliminary part of the budget will be brought to the department heads in January or February. The truth and taxation will take place February or March. Possibly have the County come and give a presentation on Truth and Taxation," he said. City Planner Madison Brown added Rocky Mountain Power is prioritizing lights in the Orchards Subdivision and will inspect a pole knocked down in Deer Run next week.
No formal budget or contract decisions were made at the Oct. 24 meeting; staff were directed to continue preparations and provide documentation as needed.
