District facilities staff reported progress on summer projects and gave a schedule for remaining roof work at High Desert School. "The roofing for High Desert School, it's gonna be completed during the winter break," said Ernesto Maro, who presented the facilities update to the Acton‑Agua Dulce Unified Facilities & Finance Subcommittee on Aug. 26.
Staff said Meadowlark and district‑office carpet replacement were completed over the summer and that walkie‑talkies, safety levers in kindergarten rooms and new printers and data drops for TK and kindergarten classrooms are in place. Committee members asked staff to pursue contractor quotes for other problem roofs and to consider completing additional roof sections during spring break if needed.
The subcommittee also discussed repairs to portable classrooms and wood replacement, with staff noting that some portables have greater damage and will require on‑site inspection. Members requested that staff return an updated cost and schedule estimate at the next subcommittee meeting.
