Commission adopts 2024 budget amendments, obligates ARPA funds for fairgrounds and employee recognition

Box Elder County's auditor presented proposed 2024 budget amendments and commissioners approved the changes and related ARPA obligations on Dec. 18.
Staff explained that state ARPA pass-through grants were larger than expected and that some LATCF funds were transferred to cover an emergency management storage building; the auditor said the overall general-fund change in the amendments is $24,100. Commissioners moved to close the public hearing and then approved resolution 24-22 to amend the 2024 budget.
During the same segment the commission approved a resolution/MOU (24-24) obligating $308,251.28 of ARPA funds for fairground facility improvements, including completion of a restroom project, and a separate resolution (24-23) to obligate $71,743.16 for employee recognition programming to be spent in 2025–2026 (must be completed by end of 2026).
