Division of Wildlife presents $11,400.61 PILT check to Box Elder County

Blair Stringham, Northern Region supervisor for the Division of Wildlife Resources, presented the county with a payment in lieu of taxes check for $11,400.61 and described how those funds are generated and used.
"The amount of the check is $11,400.61," Stringham told commissioners, explaining that much of the revenue comes from licensed hunter and angler sales and that the division manages roughly 57,000 acres in the county, about 50,000 of which are waterfowl management areas. He said the properties are managed both for wildlife habitat and for public access and recreation.
Stringham thanked the commission for local support and noted that those properties bring recreational visitors to the county in addition to conservation value.
