Commissioners and staff discussed site constraints, potential impacts on utilities and grounds maintenance, and whether additional flagpoles (six smaller poles around one taller pole) should be included. Commissioner Summers noted Nucor is donating fabrication work and that a previous marble bid was estimated at $180,000; he said the donated steel approach will reduce costs. The commission asked Mr. Elam to prepare an aerial site map showing proposed layouts, identify potential utility conflicts (blue-stake), and return with cost estimates for flagpoles and footings for a future agenda item.
