Commissioner Bingham summarized past procurement results and recommended contracting early for winter natural gas supply to lock a price that likely saves the county money for the jail and other county facilities. He said prior early contracting saved an estimated $5,0009,000 and recommended a one-year contract for Nov. 24, 2024 through Apr. 2025 at $5.49 per dekatherm with Summit Energy.
Commissioners approved a motion to set up the contract with Summit Energy at that price and directed staff to review the returned contract when received. "We'd approve it to set up a contract with Summit Energy at that price," one commissioner said; the motion passed unanimously.
County staff will receive the contract from Summit Energy and route it to the county attorney's office for final review before execution.
