Planning board favors annual fire inspections in short-term rental ordinance, moves draft toward public hearing

At the Feb. 17 work meeting, the Daggett County Planning and Zoning Board reviewed updates to a proposed short-term rental ordinance. Carrie Poulsen presented a revised draft that incorporated changes suggested by the county attorney. Board members discussed whether fire inspections should be required annually and concluded that "fire inspections should be done every year." Poulsen cited a Jackson Hole, Wyo., checklist as a possible model for inspection requirements.
Allan Wood, serving as acting chair for the meeting, said the county attorney advised that "it should be the responsibility of the property owner to get the inspections completed and present that with their Conditional Use permit renewal application." After the discussion, the board stated the ordinance draft is ready to move to a public hearing; no formal vote was recorded at the work session. The meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
