Committee approves restaurant expansion permit in Minocqua with conditions

The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee on May 13 approved a Conditional Use Permit for an expansion of an existing restaurant and outdoor seating operated by applicant F.J. Frazier and owned by BMHQ LLC in the Village of Minocqua. Planning & Zoning Director Karl Jennrich presented staff findings and recommended conditions for permit issuance.
The permit was approved with eleven conditions, including that the project be substantially commenced within three years, compliance with state Department of Transportation requirements and securing a WisDOT lease for parking in the right-of-way, a minimum of 19 parking spaces, a stormwater easement with the Town of Minocqua, downcast lighting, screened dumpster and recycling, required state-approved plans and Oneida County Health Department approvals, and that necessary variances be obtained from the Oneida County Board of Adjustment. The motion to approve carried on a motion by Dan Hess, seconded by Michael Tautges, with all members present voting “Aye.”
During the public hearing portion, several participants addressed the committee: William Stengl, applicant F.J. Frazier, Amber Lawrence, and Dave Freese spoke. The committee and staff conferred with the applicant and Corporation Counsel before moving to the approval vote.
