Commissioner Wolfson presented a draft job description for an opioid fund coordinator to administer the county’s opioid special fund, noting that the position would be paid from the fund rather than the general fund. "This is not money out of the general fund…this is a special fund," she said and proposed creating an advisory committee that would include a law enforcement representative, a person with lived experience, a representative from area schools, EMS/fire, a township representative and the county administrator.
Board members discussed whether a lived-experience candidate should be required for the coordinator post or only for the advisory board; they also debated offering a per diem to volunteers because prior volunteer boards had very low attendance. Commissioners asked staff to refine the job description and to circulate it by email before the next meeting so that the board can move the position forward at a later date.
The board did not take formal action on hiring but requested edits and additional input from stakeholders and controller staff before proceeding.
