Environmental Services reports permit volume and modest landfill reduction in 2025

County Planner and Environmental Services lead Scott Wold presented the department’s 2025 annual report, which included permit and program metrics and operational highlights.
Wold reported 1,727 building permits, 256 shoreland alteration permits, and 353 SWCD site visits in 2025. He said the county achieved a 3.05% reduction in landfilled waste attributed to improved recycling and that permit processing times average 10.91 days, well inside the state 60‑day guideline. Wold cautioned that Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) funding will be cut in half next year and the department is exploring potential federal support.
