Tami Ackerson said her daughter was struck while using the crosswalk properly and asked the town to install improved protection for pedestrians. The concern was raised during the meeting’s public comment period and again in the Mayor’s reports later in the agenda.
Mayor Johann R. Wallace said the crosswalk has attracted media attention and that he hopes to meet with the Arizona Department of Transportation next week to discuss options. The council did not take formal action on the crosswalk during the meeting but discussed follow‑up steps and community concern.
