County project updates: housing siding, clinic doors, tourism signups; USDA stops self-help program

During the Feb. 24 meeting staff and community members delivered multiple project updates. Cordell McCracken said siding is nearly finished on the second affordable workforce house and that all houses have been sprayed with insulation. The clinic project expects doors in the next couple of weeks and plans to begin sheetrock the first week of March; a coordination meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
Peggy White reported the U.S. Department of Agriculture will stop the self-help housing program and provided a tourism update noting 14 jumpers have signed up for "Freeze The Gorge." Commissioners also discussed that the Manila town now manages the landfill and Dutch John manages their own solid waste; Attorney Kent Snider will research updating the Daggett County Solid Waste Management Plan and the item was requested for next week’s agenda.
