Commissioners approve nearly $62,500 in courthouse chiller repairs, avoid full replacement
Summary
Head custodian Cliff Ross recommended two repair options totaling $62,475 rather than a full $175,051 replacement; the board approved options 1 and 2, not to exceed $65,000 from the cumulative capital development fund pending Council approval, and asked that work be scheduled over a weekend.

Head Custodian Cliff Ross presented three bids from A.A. Huber & Sons for courthouse chiller work: a $36,371 compressor replacement for circuit #2, a $26,104 condenser coil replacement for circuit #1, and a full Daikin chiller replacement at $175,051. Ross recommended completing the two repair options together to restore full capacity.
Commissioner Rick Woodall moved to approve options 1 and 2 and not to exceed $65,000 from the cumulative capital development fund pending Council approval, with the work scheduled over a weekend to minimize courthouse disruption. The motion passed unanimously. Commissioners and staff did not authorize the full replacement at this meeting; Council approval is required for the funding drawdown.
