Resident Doug Beck asked the board what the requirements are for establishing a private cemetery. Board members said TriCounty Health supplied a checklist and that the Utah State Code includes cemetery provisions; the county’s primary jurisdiction is to evaluate groundwater concerns.
Discussion noted that creating a private cemetery would likely require subdividing and rezoning land to a use category that allows cemeteries, and the property deed should show cemetery use. Commissioner Matt Tippets suggested the county could consider changing allowed uses in AG-20 if needed. No formal action was taken at the meeting.
