Huachuca City Council directs active enforcement of property and nuisance codes

Councilmembers on March 26 agreed to pursue active enforcement of Huachuca City's code provisions related to zoning, health and safety, buildings and neighborhood preservation following multiple resident complaints and CDBG meeting feedback. Town Manager Suzanne Harvey said staff and the Police Department are prepared to be "aggressive," but warned that enforcement could prompt legal challenges and added expense.
"We are prepared to be aggressive, but... some people may fight us on it and it may end up in court, so it may end up costing us some money," Manager Harvey said. Councilmembers emphasized equal application of the law and directed staff to proceed with enforcement while recognizing possible litigation risk and budget implications; no specific new enforcement ordinance was adopted at the meeting.
