Nobles County elects Gene Metz chair, Chris Dybevick vice-chair for 2025

The Nobles County Board convened its annual organizational meeting on Jan. 7, 2025, and elected Commissioner Gene Metz as board chair and Commissioner Chris Dybevick as vice-chair for 2025. Both elections were approved by voice vote: Metz’s election was moved by Commissioner Robert S. Demuth and seconded by Commissioner Bob Paplow; Dybevick’s election was moved by Commissioner Justin Ahlers and seconded by Paplow.
The board approved the meeting agenda as presented, including the addition of two addendum items (8.6 and 8.7). The board also adopted a consent agenda that included draft minutes from Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, 2024; travel expense reimbursements; the auditor’s and commissioner’s warrants and accounts payable summaries; a 2025–2027 Fraud Investigation Cooperative Agreement; the 2025 IRS mileage rate; and other routine items. The consent agenda was moved by Commissioner Robert S. Demuth and seconded by Commissioner Chris Dybevick and was approved by the board.
The meeting opened with Vice-Chairperson Gene Metz calling the session to order at 9:00 a.m. and leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The board also recognized two county employees for 25 years of service: Aaron Ahlers and Jackie Van Horsen.
The board paused discussion on the proposed 2025 County Board Operating Rules & Guidelines, recording the item as tabled to a future meeting rather than deciding rule changes at this session.
