The Wayne County Planning Board voted to approve a special permit for Donna Salatino to rent stable space at 3816 West Walworth Road to an organization that will train endangered horses for individuals with special needs. Salatino told the board the property is a seven-acre parcel (subdivided from an original 200-acre farm) and that the renters will use the stables for training only; she said there will be no public riding lessons or horse shows on site.
"Customers will not visit the property to learn how to ride horses," Donna Salatino said when asked about public access. Board questions focused on driveway access, traffic impacts and whether activity would encroach on neighboring properties; Salatino said traffic would be minimal and that the renters would occasionally bring feed and new horses by trailer. Mr. Steve Guthrie moved to approve the special permit; Mr. Kenneth Conklin seconded. The vote was recorded as 11 ayes, 0 nays, and one abstention by Ms. Patricia Marini.
