Officials hail smooth 250th and StanFest events; police report few incidents

Mayor (speaker 2) and several council members praised organizers and volunteers; council members said social media feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Police Chief DeWitt (speaker 10) told the council he found the events “uneventful,” reporting that department personnel handled parade and Heritage Park staffing and that there were few complaints. “I was really happy with it,” DeWitt said, adding that the city saw no fireworks-related calls on July 4 within Stanwood itself.
Councilors noted one fireworks injury reported in an outlying area that required transport and that mutual aid was provided to a neighboring jurisdiction for a fireworks-related house fire. The council extended thanks to public-safety staff and public works for traffic control and cleanup.
