Council sets July 29 deadline for proposals ahead of planned joint meeting with OFD and elected officials

Members were reminded they must submit proposals and recommendations before the July 29, 2026 meeting so a joint meeting with Ottumwa Fire Department, Ottumwa City Council and the Wapello County Board of Supervisors can consider coordinated EMS planning. Tim Richmond said Richard, the ORHC CEO, would provide the hospital’s plans and a 2025 Ambulance Service Line document for council review.
The group discussed structuring the joint meeting to present high points and recommendations from ORHC and OFD rather than full-length presentations. Members were assigned homework to review Chief Canto’s emailed proposal and to prepare questions and recommendations for the July 29 session.
