Council reports on ACAD visit and River Hills plans for mobile clinic

Council members Tim Richmond, Amanda Hull and T.J. Millikin reported on a July 1 visit to the Adair County Ambulance District to observe Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) and community paramedicine operations; meeting notes will be circulated to the group. The visit prompted follow-up meetings with local partners to assess how MIH services could be structured in Wapello County.
Representatives from River Hills (Joy) told the group they are considering a mobile clinic and are discussing an application to the state that could align with upcoming legislation supporting MIH programs. Joy said River Hills was considering placing a Nurse Practitioner in the mobile-clinic position "so they can bill for the service due to Medicare/Medicaid not paying for it to be a paramedic in the position as of yet." River Hills and Ottumwa Regional Health Center staff plan to meet to draft how an application could look.
