Finance Director Tyler Olsen told the Board the State Compensation Board will provide a 2% bonus to state-funded employees; staff recommended a comparable 2% bonus for county-funded employees to maintain pay parity. The county cost of the proposed bonus is $240,574; staff proposed covering that with $91,386 from the State Compensation Board, $5,074 from restricted Transient Occupancy Tax, a $100,000 transfer from CIP radio debt proceeds, and $44,114 from the General Fund balance.
The Board also approved appropriations for school grants (VTSS $40,000 for literacy supports and Vision Screening $5,383), law-enforcement grants (PACA $20,000; CERT $6,508; DMV grant $40,894), and a $1,000 animal-shelter grant for a free spay/neuter clinic. The motion to appropriate and transfer the listed funds carried 5-0.
