Police seek $15,000 for CSO overtime; board approves firearm surrender for destruction

Chief of Police David Furlough told the board the department has 14 civilian service officers (CSOs) and recently lost two to resignation; the department has an active application process and traditionally holds up to 17. "So we had 14. We just had 2 resign," Furlough said. The board approved a $15,000 FY26 transfer to cover increased overtime, community events and training shifts for newly hired CSOs.
Separately, purchasing presented a request to surrender a Colt law enforcement carbine (serial LE036371) to the Connecticut State Police special licensing and firearms unit for destruction; the board approved the surrender. The minutes record the motions and voice votes for both actions.
