The commission adopted a resolution on Jan. 26 to fix qualifying fees for the 2026 local elections, as required by state law. Chairman Charles Coffey read the fee amounts (County Commissioner $362; County Board of Education member $72), and Commissioner Jason Frost moved to approve the fees; the motion was seconded and carried unanimously. The clerk was authorized to publish the list as required by O.C.G.A. § 21-2-131, and qualifying will be open from 9 a.m. March 2 through noon March 6, 2026.
The action was formalized by a Jan. 26 resolution that the minutes include as Exhibit A. The commission instructed the County Clerk to publish the qualifying-fee schedule no later than Feb. 1, 2026, consistent with the statute cited in the resolution.
