Commission approves $1.88 million paving contract for Liberty Hill and Riverbend roads

SOWEGA Engineering reviewed bids opened April 7 and recommended Oxford as the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. The consulting engineer wrote, "we recommend the award of the contract for the Repair and Resurfacing of Liberty Hill Road and Riverbend Road to Oxford Construction Company for $1,881,155.00 as the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder." The bid tabulation filed with the record shows Oxford at $1,881,155 and Robinson Paving Company at $2,144,374.32.
Commissioners placed the recommendation on the consent agenda and approved the motion in open session. County staff said they would prepare the Notice of Award and contract documents for the chairman's signature. No commissioner recorded a dissenting vote.
What happens next: staff will finalize contract documents and issue the Notice of Award; paving scheduling and related curb/parking-area repairs for Riverbend Park were discussed separately in the May 26 work session budget and public-works updates.
